I'm Amanda, a recent graduate from the University of Alberta. I was enrolled in the Computer Engineering (nano-scale design) Co-op program. Initially, I had wanted to study biomedical engineering, however, after taking an introduction to computer programming course in my first year of engineering, I decided that I would prefer computer engineering and I think that was the best decision I ever made.

I loved computer engineering because it is one of those programs where you actually have fun with what you are doing. It is also a very broad degree there is always something new to create/invent. From making games to developing applications to building robots to health care to building security systems there is never a dull moment. I have learned a lot from this degree and since I got admitted into this program I have been building different things with the knowledge I have acquired. Currently, my favorite programming language and framework to work with are Dart and Flutter. Recently I have been working on an Android / IOS application which helps people plan their haircare routine.

My dream job has always been to work in a company where I would be exercising my creativity and invent new technologies for the world to enjoy. I believe I am naturally gifted with programming skills, as I find it very easy to learn any programming language. I have also been told several times by my friends, family, and teachers that I am a very creative person and I like being given the opportunity to express my creativity. Although I am a very independent person the nature of my program has helped me to develop strong team working skills as most of the courses I have taken required me to work in a group.

Naturally, I would consider myself an introvert although I actually enjoy meeting new people and socializing. When I am not studying or working on any engineering or software-related project, you'll often find me either watching a movie/ YouTube video, playing sports, cooking or engaging in a conversation with someone else. I also love to play board games and try new foods when I am with my friends and family.
